Solar energy system keeps lights on for off-grid community

The 90kW solar hybrid mini-grid in North East Nigeria has empowered over 1,300 households, clinics, schools, and small businesses independently of the national grid.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) of Nigeria, in four years, deployed over 100 solar hybrid mini-grids and 1.6 million solar home systems. Nigeria's electricity generation of 3,500MW to 5,000MW for a population of over 200 million is considered insufficient, emphasizing the significance of decentralized solutions like solar mini-grids.
