The President of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Nigeria, Dr Alex Nwuba, has raised the alarm over the large number of aircraft pilots expected to retire from active duty in the next two years without commensurate replacements.
Another industry expert, Capt John Okpaku, also echoed the need for governments at all levels to intervene saying an initial training fee for a pilot costs about $80,000.
He said, “We have a serious shortage of pilots but the initial training cost is the problem, that training costs about $80,000 and for this reason, the government must come in.
