Weak consumer demand and high exchange rate of naira to dollar have pruned wheat imports by 78 per cent to 670,396 metric tonnes valued at $389 million in the first six months of 2024. Millers are expected to import three million tonnes between January and June 2024 but import through the seaports have been declining since the beginning of the year, leading tow shipment.
