AFCFTA To Stimulate Intra-African Trade By $35bn Annually

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) could stimulate trade within the region to the tune of $35 billion per annum. Minister, Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite stated this year yesterday in Abuja at the flag of 30th African Organisation Standardisation (ARSO) General Assembly with the theme:” Educate an African fit for the 21st Century – Building a Quality Culture – “One Market, One Standard.” She said the theme articulated the essential role of standardisation in promoting sustainable development, innovation, exportoriented manufacturing and production.

The Minister said the trade would also boost agriculture and industrial exports by $4 billion (7%) and $21 billion (5%) respectively.
